MISSED LESSONS/CANCELLATION/UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES:
Please read carefully.
Students will not be entitled to a refund or
rescheduling due to their own cancellation of a lesson.
Make-up lessons will be considered at the discretion of the
instructor if time is available
during normal teaching hours.
There will be no missed lessons carried over to the next
quarter.
As a courtesy to the instructor and to other students requesting
make up lessons, we ask that you inform us as far in advance as
possible of any anticipated missed lessons. If no notice is
given and a student misses a lesson, (no show, no call) this
missed lesson will not be considered for a make-up.
Lessons which are cancelled by the instructor and which cannot be
rescheduled will be credited or refunded.
Similar to other educational institutions, we anticipate that
students will be continuing their studies on an ongoing basis.
In the event of termination of studies, notice is required
four weeks prior to termination. Any refunds of unused
quarterly payment will be given solely at the discretion of the
instructor, and will only be considered (assuming four weeks’ notice
is given) when the vacant timeslot is refilled. Our suggestion
is to finish out the quarter after giving notice.
UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES
- bad weather, school closure or injuries such as broken bones*,
long-term illnesses, etc. are handled the same way as a missed
lesson /cancellation. We will do our best to make up the
lesson(s) during normal teaching hours, but cannot guarantee it.
*Depending on the extent of injury, lessons can be modified to fit each situation. This will keep the student engaged and in their studies.
BEHAVIOR
Students are expected to be respectful and well-behaved at all times. Abuse of studio facilities or equipment will not be tolerated. Students are not allowed access to house or yard areas outside the studio without prior permission. Any children remaining in the reception area must be supervised by a parent or other adult. Students MUST bring their music books and three-ring assignment book to each lesson. A lesson may be cancelled if the student does not bring his/her music and assignment books.
DAILY PRACTICE
Students are expected to set aside an adequate amount of time for
daily practice (at least 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the age and
proficiency of the student). Students are required to prepare
ALL assigned pieces and exercises. For younger students,
parental involvement is vital to ensure that quantity and quality of
their children’s practice time. Continued failure to prepare
for lessons may result in dismissal from the studio.
Piano students
must have access
to an adequately maintained acoustic piano for their daily practice
(or, at a minimum, an 88-key instrument
with pedal and weighted
keys). Fingernails must be kept short to ensure proper hand
position.
Cello students same rules apply. Proper fitted instrument is required for all students.
Guitar Students
same as above. Listening lab optional.
